Clinic Negligence: Diagnosis
Defense Verdict
Ruptured Appendix
An 11-year-old female suffered a ruptured appendix, which required extensive open abdominal surgery, after she presented to the defendant medical clinic on multiple occasions over a 2 week period with signs and symptoms of appendicitis. The plaintiff contended that the defendant’s staff failed to timely diagnose and treat her appendicitis, that its medical staff failed to promptly perform diagnostic testing to arrive at a correct diagnosis, and that they failed to provide the proper standard of care. The defendant denied liability and contended that an abscess prevented proper diagnosis and treatment of the plaintiff's condition.
