An analysis on personal injury cases for Missouri finds that plaintiffs receive a higher median award for knee injuries, at $46,500, than for shoulder injuries, at $30,000. The median award for the state overall is $40,000 while the overall plaintiff recovery probability – the number of plaintiff verdicts to total verdicts – for Missouri is 59 percent compared to a 53 percent national recovery probability and a national median award of $38,179, according to Jury Verdict Research®’s 2007 Missouri Verdict Survey.
The statistics are based on verdicts rendered in Missouri from 2000 through 2006. The study also includes a breakdown of specific liability categories in the state of Missouri.
