The likelihood of a plaintiff verdict
in 2003 falls by 10% from 2002, while the award amount received
also declines from $21,275 in 2002 to $15,000 in 2003, according
to Jury Verdict Research®'s 2005 Tennessee Verdict Survey.
The statistics are based on verdicts rendered in Tennessee
from 1998 through 2004. The study also includes a breakdown
of specific injury and liability categories in the state
of Tennessee.

Tennessee plaintiffs' recovery probability
- the number of plaintiff verdicts to total verdicts - fell
from 2002 to 2003, but overall, it is still greater than
the national plaintiffs' rate by 7%.

The median is the middle value among
awards listed in ascending order. This value provides the
most accurate gauge of the norm for a specific sampling
of jury award data.
